So we have been really bad about updating the blog in the past few months. I guess now that we are on FB, we haven't been as committed to the blog. We'll try to be better about keeping this up to date. So here is what is going on with us this summer.
Dave- is finishing up his last class for his credential program until the end of July. He has had one session already and seems to think it will be fairly manageable. He also has to take a reading instruction test in August (this is the last hurdle for his credential). He is also teaching summer school. He only is teaching one class which means he is usually home by lunch everyday, which the kids love! He's got a group of mostly juniors (soon to be seniors) for 2.5 hours teaching Economics. And lastly, he has almost single handedly polished off his bottled of Macallan 10 year single malt scotch!
Amanda- walked in the graduation ceremonies at Fuller a couple weeks ago. I am however not graduating until summer or fall. I am currently doing my practicum here locally since we were not able to coordinate all our schedules to make it to Spain this summer. I am doing some research, book editing, cirriculum development and volunteer work in addition to my reading and language learning. So I will definitely have a full plate this summer! I am not taking on any new doula clients for the summer so that I can focus on completing my practicum. However, once I am done with that in September, I hope to dive in to my certification process and be complete with that by Jan or Feb at the latest. You can check out if you want to know more about doulas and what they do. This is the organization that I'm working with on my certification.
Mason- is growing everyday. He is still a skinny kid but is getting taller. He finished his fourth quarter of music classes last month and is still showing a tremendous interest in all things musical. He is currently really into Coldplay's "Rush of Blood to the Head" album, with the "Miss you song" (otherwise known as Warning Sign) as his favorite single. Sometimes I hear him singing it while playing with his cars in his room during quiet time! He decided he wanted to take an art class this summer instead of music. So he will be participating in a one week class at the local armory center this summer. He is also going to be in swim lessons again this summer- we're not giving up on our hope of having a surfer:) Most likely, he'll be home with me and Willow again this fall and start preschool next fall. He is still pretty low on the waiting list at the one we really want him to go to! I'm fine having him to myself one more year!
Willow- just turned one and is quite a handful. She started walking before her birthday and is practically running everywhere now. She tries to scale the stairs- which for those of you who have been here know how scary our stairs are! She says "mama", "dada", "bye-bye" , a version of "thank you" and "all done". She can wave good bye and hello and blow kisses. She is a great imitator and has been especially pleased to copy Daddy's loud cough/throat clearing this week! She is our little dancer. Whenever Mason or someone else puts music on, she immediately stops and starts dancing and clapping. It's pretty cute. She's still pretty bald but what hair is there is a strawberry blonde. We'll see as it comes in what color it'll be.
So that is basically the latest with us. We are most likely not going to be traveling back to the midwest this summer because of money and some other obligations we have with our class work. But we welcome visitors anytime!
